Watery eyes can be a symptom of dry eye disease. When an unstable tear film leaves the ocular surface irritated, the eyes may respond by producing a surge of reflex tears. These watery tears can overflow but may not correct the underlying tear-film problem. Excessive tearing can also result from allergies, eyelid conditions or an obstruction in the tear-drainage system.
